Images format for Site

Hi,

1-     Does your software set the dpi to 96 when uploading a high res image?
2-     What scale do we have provide the images ( 3:2 or …)
3-     If we provide an over pixeled image, does your app automatically sets the amount of pixels during upload.

No, the software doesn’t change the images that you upload. It stores the original images to the database and programmatically scale those down to what’s necessary or thumbnails. You can provide whatever aspect ratio of images. Say you configure the product images to show image size 400 X 300. If your aspect ratio of the original images is 4 X 3 the original images are scaled down to 400 X 300. If your aspect ratio of the original images is 2 X 1 the original images are scaled down to 400 X 200. Software keeps the aspect ratio unchanged and fit the image to the configured size that you specified.

Re: Images format for Site
can the compression be reduced on the programmatically scaled images.  the pics can be a bit grainy, especially on the thumbnails (and really, they do not need to be compressed as much as they are already small)

Yes, you can customize that in the HttpHandler DyImageHttpHandler.

Are you uploading the full size image files? If so, the scaled down thumbnails shouldn't be grainy. If it's still the case, please post back the full size image and we will take a look. We will fix it if that's obvious.
